Gábor is listening to... 2020/1-7 Part II
Once I'm in it, I am really in it - so let's elaborate on seven more songs I have been listening to in 2020.
Besides the obvious statement of the video, Josef Salvat's come-back song In The Afternoon is also quite a treat. The track serves as an appetizer for the Australian singer's sophomore album Modern Anxiety - due to be released on 15 May 2020.
American singer H.E.R. had already won two Grammy Awards with her self-titled debut album before releasing her second album. I Used to Know Her was also nominated for a Grammy but didn't win. Both records are compilations of her EPs, the collection of which she is probably widening with a new one this year.
After winning BBC's poll The Sound of 2016, Jack Garrett released his debut album Phase and went on hiatus in order to deal with anxiety and self-doubt, which were consequences of immediate fame. His second studio album Love, Death & Dancing is coming on 29 May 2020.
Talking about anxiety and self-doubt, Sam Smith's journey into self-awareness, pride and self-realization continues with his (their?) third album To Die For, which is coming on 1 May 2020.
Somehow we lost track of Australian record producer Sam Sparro after his convincing debut with Black & Gold and the consequent self-titled album in 2008. Little was hyped about his second album Return To Paradise in 2012, however, here he is now, in 2020, with some smooth, 80s-influenced electronic soul.
Blossoms were also shortlisted for BBC's The Sound of 2016 title and finished fourth. Their debut album, on the other hand, topped the UK Albums Chart - and so did their recent one. Foolish Loving Spaces was released on 31 January 2020.
Formed in 1991 and with a debut album in 1995, American rock band Incubus have come a long way. This year will see a brand new EP entitled Trust Fall (Side B) - which is probably the counterpart of Trust Fall (Side A) from 2015 - featuring the single Our Love.
