Labor Day Special - Easy Listening

Even though Easy Listening as a popular music genre originates from the 1950s and was also labelled Middle Of The Road (MOR) music, we may find examplary artists/songs even today.

As both above-mentioned terms clearly indicate, this type of pop music is strongly associated with the feeling of freedom or uplifting satisfaction while listening to a song, particularyly on the radio. We are talking about a music genre here, which - in its heyday - sold or was popular without the strong deliberate intention of selling or wanting to be popular.

Nowadays Easy Listening is associated with Adult Contemporary or Soft Rock and with new material by Lighthouse Family or Mike & The Mechanics, this genre is still flourishing even though popular hit radio stations do not air them due to the fact that the audience of this type of music should be in their 30s or above. As a result, with teens being the average consumers of hit songs nowadays, "easy-listeners" unfortunately do not qualify as target audience anymore.
