American synthwave duo The Midnight is releasing a new LP entitled Kids on 21 September 2018.

While synthwave being a contemporary genre with a retro touch, influenced by 1980s electronic music, especially by film soundtracks of that period, the band is said to get the inspiration from the soundtrack of the movie Drive.

In addition, pioneers of 1980s electronic music, for example Jean-Michel Jarre, Vangelis or Giorgio Moroder, also had an impact on American television series Stranger Things.
