Gábor is listening to... 2017/02
Ed Sheeran is still dominating the media by releasing two songs at the same time, however, in the second week of January 2017. I turned to electronic music because I came accross some interesting releases.
First of all, German trance producer duo Piet Blank and Jaspa Jones will be releasing a new album in February 2017.
After switching from trance to chill-out with their Relax, Milchbar and Chilltronica series - not to mention their Jazzed and So80s compilations - the duo became quite electronic in 2016. with the release of DOM, a modern classical recording created as the soundtrack for a 3-day light show performance in Cologne Cathedral last August.
Their new album #Whatwedoatnight features an adult electronica sound without vocals, as the producers described it, and will be available on 10th February 2017.
Then, while I was looking for that record, I realized that Greek electronic music composer and mastermind Vangelis released a new album in September 2016. Rosetta was dedicated to Rosetta space probe mission - which was launched in 2004. - , and has already received a Grammy Award nomination for Best New Age Album.
Finally, while I was listening to German and Greek electronica I remembered that there was French electronica, as well. And indeed Jean Michele Jarre was very productive in 2016. Besides releasing Electronica 2: The Heart of Noise - a two-part collaborative album, the first part of which being released in 2015., featuring other electronica oriented musicians like M83, Yello or the Pet Shop Boys - he also released Oxygéne 3 on the 40th anniversary of the release of his first Oxygéne album.
As for the moment there exist 20 different songs of his entitled Oxygéne on three different albums also entitled Oxygéne.
