Twenty Years of Summer (1996-2016)

2016

Reaching summer number 21, which means the end of this great musical journey, I have to say that Calvin Harris, Maroon 5 and Coldplay had the most sunny hits in the past 20 years, however, Beyoncé, Madonna or Kylie Minoge had a couple of memorable entries, as well.

To be honest the summer of 2016 contains a lot of cheap thrills by the likes of, for example, Sia (Cheap Thrills), Jennifer Lopez (Ain't Your Mama), Alvaro Soler (Sofia), Calvin Harris & Rihanna (This Is What You Came For), Drake (One Dance), Justin Timberlake (Cry Me A River), Mike Posner (I Took A Pill In Ibiza), Shawn Mendes (Treat You Better) or by Twenty One Pilots (Ride).

On the other hand there are a couple of alternative comebacks for example Editors (All The Kings), Bloc Party (Virtue), The Last Shadow Puppets (Aviation), the 1975 (Somebody Else) or Roisín Murphy (Ten Miles High).

There are some memorable pop tunes, as well, for instance Send My Love To Your Lover by Adele, Tears by Clean Bandit, Capsize by Frenship, Sunshine by Tieks, Dancing On My Own by Calum Scott, Middle by DJ Snake, Good Grief by Bastille or Ain't Giving Up by Craig David & Sigala.

Finally it is worth mentioning that Coldplay and Beyoncé are all over the place with Hymn For The Weekend.

Nevertheless, let's see the other 15 songs, which have been massive this summer:
