Twenty Years of Summer (1996-2016)
2005
This summer is best described by two songs: Bad Day by Daniel Powter and You're Beautiful by James Blunt. This is it, there is nothing more to add.
I'm not going to mention that Mariah Carey had a huge comeback with about five singles at the same time, from which we may highlight It's Like That and We Belong Together. Neither do I remember that Rihanna started her career with Pon De Replay and The Pussycat Dolls started theirs with Don't Cha in the summer of 2005.
The following songs have also not been popular: Switch by Will Smith, Hollaback Girl by Gwen Stefani, Don't Phunk With My Heart by The Black Eyed Peas, Everyday I Love You Less and Less by Kaiser Chiefs, 1 Thing by Amerie, Best of You by Foo Fighters, Only by Nine Inch Nails, Getaway by Texas, Gasolina by Daddy Yankee, La Camisa Negra by Juanes, Roc Ya Body by MVP, Seven Days in Sunny June by Jamiroquai and Diamonds from Sierra Leone by Kanye West.
Finally people did not dance to the following songs: Owner of a Lonely Heart by Max Graham Vs. Yes, Why Go by Faithless & Estelle, Say Hello by Deep Dish, I Like The Way by Bodyrockers, Shot You Down by Audio Bullys, Club Tropicana by Vynilshakers and Only This Moment by Röyksopp.
However, in the shadows of James Blunt and Daniel Powter, the next 10 songs were definitely not remarkable:
Rob Thomas: Lonely No More
Roisín Murphy: If We're In Love
DJ Sammy: Why
Lil'Love: Little Love
Mylo: In My Arms
Gorillaz: D.A.R.E.
Craig David: All The Way
Destiny's Child: Cater 2 U
U2: City of Blinding Lights
