Twenty Years of Summer (1996-2016)
1997
I remember this summer quite well because I finished primary school that year and I was excited about secondary school.
First of all, the USA had Puff Daddy with Faith Evans, Paula Cole and Changing Faces.
The UK had Shola Ama, Eternal with Bebe Winans and Eurovision Song Contest winner Love Shine A Light by Katrina & The Waves.
Australia introduced Savage Garden with their first single I Want You.
Europe had DJ Bobo's It's My Life, No Mercy's Please Don't Go, Chilli's Tic Tic Tac (featuring Carrapicho), Garcia's Bamboleo and Jam & Spoon's Kaleidoscope Skies (featuring Plavka).
Club hits included Celvin Rotane's Theme From Magnum, Space Frog's X-Ray (Follow Me), Todd Terry's Something Going On, Olive's You Are Not Alone, Ultra Nate's Free and Beachball by Nalin & Kane.
But most of all, everyone had enough of Hanson's HmmBop.
However, there are ten more tracks that were all over in the summer of 1997:
Bellini: Samba De Janeiro
The Cardigans: Lovefool
Sash! feat. Rodriguez: Equador
Gala: Freed From Desire
Smoke City: Underwater Love
Members Of Mayday: Sonic Empire
The Blue Boy: Remember Me
Daft Punk: Around The World
Mariah Carey: Honey
The Verve: Bitter Sweet Symphony
