Twenty Years of Summer (1996-2016)

Well, actually, when the summer of 2016 ends, it will be the 21st... but it's not over yet so let's have a journey back in time and see what we have or have not been dancing to ever since.

1996

While the British people were enjoying their Eurovision entry by Gina G. in 1996, the European audience danced the Coco Jamboo. (Well, the whole globe danced the Macarena, too)

Also, the Fugees scored their biggest hit that year (they only had three songs before their never-ending hiatus) plus the world saw the birth of the girl-group of girl-groups: the Spice Girls. (Wannabe spent seven weeks at the number one in the UK)

Finally, Peter André, George Michael, Mark Morrison, Garcia and Livin' Joy had a huge impact on us, as well.

Balla tu cuerpo alegría Macarena ;)

As we get close you whisper coco, I hold you in my arms and you say jamboo...

You lied to me - yes I cried, I cried...

If you wannabe my lover, you gotta get (along) with my friends...

Ahh, yeah, ahh, yeah...

Baby girl I said tonight is your lucky night, Peter André along vid Bubbla Ranks on de mic...

Hey chico, chica are you ready for the fiesta? AHA :)

Ooh Aah... Just a little bit..

Strumming my pain with his fingers

Singing my life with his words

Killing me softly with his song

(Original by Roberta Flack)

Baby, I ain't Mr. Right but if you're looking for fastlove... is all that I've got on my mind...

In addition, 1996 had Gloria Estefan's olympic hymn, England's football anthem by Baddiel/Skinner/Lightning Seeds, Mission Impossible's soundtrack by Adam Clayton & Larry Mullen and No Mercy's Where Do You Go.
